National Army Honors the State Flag (video)
CHISINAU, April 27, 2021 - The State Flag was honored today in all garrisons of the National Army, during ceremonies held in a small format on the territory of military units.
Thus, in the morning, in Chisinau, a group of military from the Honor Guard Company hoisted the flag on the mast in front of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The celebration continued at the Ministry of Defense, where the State Flag was honored by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army.
Acting Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc mentioned during the event that the State Flag is more than a symbol, it represents the history of the Republic of Moldova. "At this moment, the State Flag is hoisted in all units of the National Army. I am glad that, despite the pandemic, this tradition continues. Also, our Tricolor is proudly worn in Kosovo, South Sudan, the Central African Republic and Mali, where the Moldovan military maintains peace in missions. Today, on the State Flag Day, I want to urge all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to love this symbol, as the military loves and honors it", said Victor Gaiciuc.
Similar ceremonies for hoisting the Tricolor took place in the units of the National Army in the garrisons of Chisinau, Balti, Cahul and Ungheni, but also in the Military Academy "Alexandru cel Bun". Also today, at the Agency for Military Science and Memory was inaugurated a temporary thematic exhibition entitled "Historical Flags and State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova", from the collection of Colonel Petru Costin. The exhibition will be presented to the public until May 10.
The state flag was also celebrated by Moldovan service members abroad on international peacekeeping missions.
It should be noted that the State Flag Day of the Republic of Moldova is marked every year on April 27. The holiday was instituted by the Chisinau Parliament on April 23, 2010. The tricolor was officially designated the State Flag on April 27, 1990, by the deputies of the first Legislature.
