Social protection of war veterans, for the attention of the National Council



CHISINAU, May 21, 2021 - Members of the National Council for the problems of war veterans met today at the Ministry of Defense in the second ordinary working meeting of this year to discuss the actions taken in the field of ensuring the social protection of veterans and to identify new solutions this sense.

The meeting, which took place in a small format, was attended by the acting Minister of Defense, Victor Gaiciuc, representatives of the relevant institutions, as well as war veterans, members of the Council`s working groups.

The agenda of the event included important topics, such as ensuring the rights of war veterans and invalids with free sanatorium treatment tickets, the measures taken in the first quarter of this year in the context of Government Provision no. 204-d of 31 December 2020 "On the approval of the action plan‚ Report. Honor. Respect for strengthening the trust and improving the social and legal protection of war veterans for the period 2021-2023", as well as the issues of confirmation / reconfirmation of the status of war veteran and issuance of new type of cards. As a result of the discussions, the Minister of Defense, who chaired the meeting, ordered the members of the Council to submit to the Bureau of Veterans Relations of the State Chancellery proposals and opinions for the need to amend Law no. 190/2003 on veterans, as well as the Government Decision no.190 / 2010 " For the approval of the Regulation regarding the conditions, the way of insurance, evidence and distribution of the sanatorium treatment tickets granted to the veterans" and of other normative acts in the field.

At the same time, the members of the forum decided that the central public authorities and the institutions responsible for the implementation of the actions from the Action Plan Memory Honor Respect "will continue to carry out the actions and will inform the Quarterly Council about the measures taken in this regard, and the relevant institutions will cooperate more intensively with the representatives of the veterans' associations regarding their involvement in carrying out the actions of the respective Plan.

At the same time, it was agreed to submit an approach to the current Government on the allocation of financial resources for the repair of the Republican Experimental Center for Prosthetics, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, an institution that provides rehabilitation services for war veterans. The Council, established by Government decision on 15 January 2020, aims to coordinate state policies, programs, plans and actions for the social protection of war veterans, as well as to ensure equal opportunities for this category of population to achieve constitutional rights and freedoms.

The first meeting of this year`s forum took place in February.
