Moldovan-British meeting at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, October 5, 2021 - The current state of Moldovan-British cooperation on defense has been reviewed today by Minister Anatolie Nosatii and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova, Steven Fisher. The meeting was also attended by the British military attaché, squadron commander Robyn D. Hall.
During the talks, officials addressed issues related to the assistance provided by the British government in the context of sectoral reform and opportunities to develop cooperation between the armies of the two states.
The Ministry of Defense thanked the British side for its substantial support to the National Army during the pandemic, which included medical equipment and means of protection against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Anatolie Nosatii also appreciated the United Kingdom`s contribution to the training and preparation of the military in various joint activities, the contribution to the implementation of the Professional Development Plan, but also the expertise offered in developing strategic documents under the Defense Capacity Building Initiative ( DCBI).
In this regard, Minister Nosatii stressed that the United Kingdom has become a valuable strategic partner for our country, expressing confidence that the cooperative relations between the two states will advance. Other topics addressed in the discussions focused on the objectives of transforming the National Army, the priorities of increasing the participation of the military in international peacekeeping missions and strengthening collaboration with external partners by implementing effective projects and programs for both armies.
Also today, the Minister of Defense decorated the attaché Robyn Hall with the medal "For strengthening the brotherhood of arms". The distinction was offered as a sign of appreciation of the military diplomat`s contribution to the development of the Moldovan-British dialogue on the defense segment, facilitating communication between the profile structures of the two states, as well as in the context of completing the official mandate in our country.
