Cooperation between the National Army and the OSCE, discussed at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, October 7, 2021- The Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii had a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch.
The subjects discussed included topics related to bilateral cooperation with the organization over the years in various fields, including the management of weapons and ammunition stocks, professional retraining, but also informing the public about the danger of unexploded ordnance.
In this regard, the Minister of Defense thanked the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova for its support in the assistance under the Complex Program in the Field of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW). Thus, the official referred to the support in conducting training courses with the participation of personnel responsible for weapons and ammunition in the National Army and representatives of the force structures, whose activity is related to that field. Anatolie Nosatii also expressed her gratitude in the context of the training activities of the national experts for the continuation of the training and development process of the new fields, according to the needs of the National Army.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense, highlighted the contribution of the organization to the development of projects for the renovation of the National Army depots, as well as the endowment with equipment specialized in ammunition testing. In his turn, Claus Neukirch appreciated the actions taken by the defense institution in order to increase the level of security at the ammunition storage places, expressing its readiness to continue supporting the projects implemented in our country in this field.
During the dialogue, officials also discussed priorities for reforming the defense and security sector, strengthening cooperation with external partners, and stepping up participation in international peacekeeping operations.
