National Army Commander met with representatives of the US Embassy at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, November 10, 2021 - Moldovan-American defense cooperation was discussed today by the new commander of the National Army, Colonel Eduard Ohladciuc, and the US military attaché, Lieutenant-Colonel Renee Michel. Other representatives of the US Embassy in our country also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, officials referred to the current state of the defense partnership with the United States and North Carolina, as well as projects in this context, including the Defense Capabilities Development Initiative (DCBI) and the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) Republic of Moldova - NATO.

At the same time, the parties discussed the objectives of transforming the National Army into a modern and interoperable institution with the armies of other states, intensifying the participation of the Moldovan military in international peacekeeping missions, and strengthening collaborative relations with partners.

The commander of the National Army thanked the American side for the assistance provided over the years in various bilateral activities.

In turn, Lieutenant-Colonel Renee Michel congratulated Colonel Eduard Ohladciuc on the occasion of his appointment, expressing his conviction that the Moldovan-American dialogue will develop in areas of common interest, including training and logistics.

In the end, military officials agreed to continue cooperation between the two armies.
