The National Army receives the second tranche of equipment in the program of collaboration with the Department of Defense of the United States of America
CHISINAU, December 14, 2021 - The National Army received today the second tranche of the batch of military equipment, coming from the Government of the United States of America, arrived today in the Republic of Moldova.
The batch received will be used by the National Army in international peacekeeping operations, in order to increase interoperability with other contingents participating in missions.
The reception of the equipment is part of the project launched by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova in 2018, in the context of achieving the objective of reforming and transforming the defense and security sector included in the Government`s Activity Program, in support of efforts to develop military capabilities the operational capacity of the National Army.
It should be noted that the batch will be delivered in several installments by the end of this year, being distributed in military units intended to participate in international peacekeeping operations, including KFOR, where Moldova has been participating since 2014, but also in UNIFIL Operation in Lebanon, in which our military will be deployed starting with August 2022.
The first part of that batch was received by the National Army this September. Moldovan-American Defense Cooperation is based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Military Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Department of Defense of the United States of America, signed on December 4, 1995.
