Military engineers liquidated more than 20 explosive objects in Briceni and Stefan Voda districts



CHISINAU, February 8, 2021- National Army engineers neutralized 21 explosive objects in the first month of this year in the localities of Briceni and Stefan Voda districts.

Thus, in the first week of January, the engineer teams of the "Moldova" Brigade, led by Sergeant Eduard Hincu, detected and destroyed nine artillery shells with a caliber of 76 mm in the forest near Lipcani, Briceni district.

Another nine explosive objects, including seven artillery shells of 76 mm caliber and two grenades, were found in the arable field in the village of Rascaieti, district of Stefan Voda. The mission was carried out by the team of engineers of the Engineer Battalion, led by Captain Anatolii Gudumac.

According to Lieutenant-Colonel Igor Livitchi within the Engineer Service, all the ammunition was from the Second World War period and presented a high risk to life. They were destroyed under maximum security conditions.

NOTE: The Ministry of Defense warns that in areas where munitions exist or are suspected to exist, citizens are asked to notify the local authorities. In case of detection of unidentified explosive objects, it is categorically forbidden to touch the munitions, to hit or move the munitions found in the ground or on the surface, to dismantle warheads or other components.
