Moldovan-British cooperation, to the attention of Minister Anatolie Nosatii and Ambassador Steven Fisher

CHISINAU, February 8, 2022 - Bilateral cooperation in the military segment and prospects for expanding the partnership were the topics of the meeting between Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Steven Fisher.

Discussions between the two officials focused in particular on the assistance provided by the British side in various areas, including the training of military and civilian employees of the National Army in the relevant educational institutions, as well as in the specialized courses conducted by the United Kingdom, expertise in the development of relevant policy documents, as well as assistance in the context of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other topics discussed included the priorities of transforming the defense institution into a modern one, in compliance with international standards, capable of fulfilling its basic constitutional missions, intensifying cooperation with international organizations and external partners, as well as implementing joint programs and projects aimed at strengthening our country`s defense system.

Thus, Anatolie Nosatii and Steven Fisher referred to the implementation of the Professional Development Program, a project initiated by the Republic of Moldova within the framework of the Defense Capabilities Building Initiative (DCBI), the participation of the Moldovan military in peacekeeping missions, which ensures the Republic of Moldova`s status as a global security provider.

Finally, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in the context of achieving the goal of reforming the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.
