CHISINAU, February 9, 2022 - A team of experts from the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the European Union (EU) is on a working visit to the Ministry of Defense on February 8-9, 2022.

The visit takes place in the context of the implementation of projects funded by the EU`s European Peace Facility (EPF) platform and provides for consultations in the implementation of projects on capability development for participation in international peacekeeping operations.

Thus, experts from the Ministry of Defense and the EEAS discussed planned assistance measures for 2021-2022 and technical aspects related to their implementation, as well as cooperation priorities for the future.

The EU delegation includes representatives of the EEAS, the EU Delegation in Chisinau and the representative of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

It should be noted that the EU Council Decision of 2 December 2021 on the approval of an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility Instrument in support of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova allocated a grant in the amount of EUR 7 million for the implementation of assistance projects to enhance medical-military and engineering capabilities, including the capacity of the Armed Forces to provide services to the civilian population in crisis or emergency situations, as well as to improve the country`s ability to contribute to missions and operations under the EU`s Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).
