New type of IDs for 50 war veterans from Varnita

CHISINAU, February 14, 2022 - The Joint Commission of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for ensuring the exchange and issuance of war veteran`s identity cards has reconfirmed the status of veteran and participant in combat actions to defend the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova for 50 people from Varnita.

According to the specialists of the joint commission, out of the 69 files examined, in 19 cases there were no documents proving participation in combat actions, as these persons were applying for the first time for the granting of this status.

More than 390 war veterans and about 50 non-combatant volunteers are registered in Varnita, who have contributed to the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova through medical services, quartermaster services, transport, and logistical support.

It should be noted that last December, the Government approved the extension of the deadline for exchanging old model war veterans` identity cards for new ones until December 31st, 2022. At the same time, the old model will remain valid until January 1st, 2023.

All these actions, aimed at facilitating the process of examining the files and reconfirming the veteran status, will be carried out during 2022, which has been declared the Year of Gratitude to War Veterans and participants in the actions to defend the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
