Minister of Defense in dialogue with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People`s Republic of China in Chisinau

CHISINAU, March 22, 2022 - The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii, had a courtesy meeting with His Excellency Yan Wenbin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People`s Republic of China in the Republic of Moldova, today at the headquarters of the defense institution.

On this occasion, Anatolie Nosatii congratulated Yan Wenbin on the occasion of his appointment and wished him success in fulfilling his mandate.

During the meeting, officials discussed bilateral cooperation between the armies of the Republic of Moldova and the People`s Republic of China, the development initiatives of the National Army, as well as participation in international peacekeeping operations.

In the same context, the Minister of Defense thanked the Chinese Government for the support provided to the military institution of the Republic of Moldova in terms of implementing military reform programs, training national military personnel in China, and technical and material security of the defense institution. Minister Nosatii expressed his gratitude to the Chinese people for their assistance in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, Minister Anatolie Nosatii informed Ambassador Yan Wenbin about the National Army's support for civilian authorities in managing the flow of refugees from Ukraine, specifying that this is one of the defense institution's priorities in the current security context. Yan Wenbin, for his part, said that the army of the People's Republic of China is also undergoing a process of reform, expressing its readiness to exchange experience in this regard.

The Chinese diplomat also reiterated his country`s support for the modernization and reform of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.
