The Minister of Defense and the Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Moldova discussed bilateral cooperation

CHISINAU, June 2, 2022 - The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii received today at the headquarters of the institution the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Moldova, E.S. Stella Avallone. The meeting was also attended by the defense attaché, accredited for our country based in Kyiv, Colonel Manfred Stacher.

The parties reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation on the military dimension, the main projects and assistance programs carried out for the development and modernization of the National Army, as well as the prospects for strengthening the partnership.

At the same time, officials exchanged views on the regional security situation and how Moldova handles the current crisis in this context, including that related to refugees in Ukraine.

Other topics on the agenda referred to the strategic objectives of transforming the defense institution into a modern one in line with current international standards of democratic governance, as well as increasing the participation of the National Army in peacekeeping missions.

The parties also highlighted the need to hold events commemorating Austrian soldiers who fell on our territory during World War II in the context of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Austria.
