Demining mission in May: 19 explosives and 113 cartridges

CHISINAU, June 6, 2022 - In May, the engineers of the National Army liquidated 19 explosive objects and 113 cartridges of different caliber in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, but also in the localities of the districts Anenii Noi, Orhei, Dubasari, Straseni, Ialoveni, Ungheni, and Hincesti.

According to the head of the Genius Service of the National Army, Lieutenant-Colonel Igor Livitchi, one of the demining missions was carried out by the engineers from the "Codru" Genius Battalion in Sadova, Calarasi. The team led by Captain Gheorghe Rotari found two artillery shells and a grenade launcher in the basement of a local rest base.

Ammunition dating back to World War II was transported to a safe place for destruction.

Since the beginning of the year, the military engineers have carried out 74 demining missions, as a result of which 219 explosive objects of various types and 9,525 cartridges were destroyed.
