Achievements of the National Army`s partnership with the OSCE, discussed at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, June 10, 2022 - Secretary of State Valeriu Mija met today with Finland`s OSCE Representative, Ambassador Vesa Hakkinen.
The two officials reviewed the cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the projects implemented with the support of the organization, including professional retraining, the project to inform the population about the danger of unexploded ordnance, assistance in drafting regulations and procedures in accordance with international requirements for the security and management of the stockpile of weapons and ammunition.
In the same context, Secretary of State Mija noted the progress in the implementation, with the help of the OSCE, of the Comprehensive Small Arms and Light Weapons Program (SALW) and thanked for the donations of equipment and training of the laboratory staff of the Armament Center and Ammunition of the National Army, which became operational, performing analysis and testing of ammunition according to international standards, which is a first for the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, the parties discussed the regional security situation, the management of the Ukrainian refugee crisis by the authorities, and the support that the OSCE can provide to the Republic of Moldova in the future.
