The National Army to the attention of representatives of civil society



CHISINAU, June 30, 2022 Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the civil society Platform in the Security sector of Moldova had meeting organized at the Agency for Military Science and Memory.

The main topics on the agenda of the talks were related to the peculiarities of Moldova`s neutrality in relation to the aspects of defense policy and defense planning. At the same time, the progress in the implementation of the projects developed in cooperation with the European Union, the North Atlantic Alliance, and the bilateral partners were reviewed. In the same context, were analyzed the last decisions taken about the Republic of Moldova at the EU Summit in Brussels and the NATO Summit in Madrid.

At the beginning of the event, Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii reaffirmed the important role of civil society in a democratic state, specifying the significant contribution of representatives of NGOs in the country to the development and advancement of the security culture. "The collaboration between state institutions and civil society becomes even more important because we have the same goal that only in common can we achieve. In this regard, we hope to benefit from more expertise, initiatives, and projects that will contribute to ensuring resilience, recovery, and reform of the country. We continue to count on openness and involvement in the discussion and, in particular, on examining the possibilities to contribute to the process of advancing the reform in the sector and strengthening the security culture in society," Minister Nosatii specified.

In the same context, Anatolie Nosatii expressed gratitude to the members of the Platform for involvement, in particular, for the support offered to combat fake news, as well as the reaction (feedback) to the strategic messages of the Ministry of Defense.

The activity was attended by specialists from the Center for Security Studies and Crisis Management, Institute for Public Policy, The Information, and Documentation Center on NATO,

GISA Group, PROMO-LEX Association Moldova, Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung Foundation

in the Republic of Moldova, Moldova State University, Free International University of Moldova, Technical University of Moldova, European Institute for Political Studies of Moldova, I4Peace, Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research, The Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova, University of European Studies of Moldova, USARB Scientific Library, Military Academy of the Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun", Ministry of Defense and Agency for Military Science and Memory.

It should be mentioned that the public event aimed to inform the relevant organizations about the achievements of the Ministry of Defense in the context of the implementation of the projects developed in cooperation with international partners, as well as the approach of the policy documents of the defense sector (national Defense Strategy and Military Strategy) in the civil society environment.
