New epaulets for the National Army Private and Sergeant Corps



CHISINAU, August 10, 2022 — The National Army privates and sergeants will have new epauletes. A decree to this effect was signed on August 3, by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu. The decision was taken in the context of the modernization process carried out in the National Army.

The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii handed the epaulets of the new type to the main sergeant of the National Army, sergeant major Andrei Cojocaru, noting that the process of development and professionalization of the force of privates and sergeants in the National Army will continue, and thanks to these changes, the military ranks of the National Army will allow increasing interoperability with the armies of other states.

According to the decree, "The military rank insignia for the privates and sergeants of the National Army is composed of angular chevrons in the shape of a deer, chevrons in the shape of a concave bow and eight-pointed stars, arranged in pale and joined laterally by the chevrons or not vertical.

Gallons and stars are applied according to rank, thus:

— for the rank of privates class III — a deer and a bow;

— for the rank of second class privates — one deer and two bows;

— for the rank of first-class privates — one deer and three bows;

— for the rank of corporal — two deer and a bow;

— for the rank of sergeant class III — three deer and a bow;

— for the rank of sergeant class II — three deer and two bows;

— for the rank of sergeant first class — three deer and three arches;

— for the rank of sergeant-major — three deer and a broad bow;

— for the rank of sergeant major — three deer, a star, and a broad bow.
