The Japanese Defense Attaché, presented to the Minister of Defense



CHISINAU, August 25, 2022 — The Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii had today a meeting with the ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, E.S. Yoshihiro Katayama, in the context of the presentation of the new Japanese defense attaché in our country, based in Kyiv.

In this context, Minister Nosatii congratulated Lieutenant-Colonel Akihiko Tashiro on the occasion of his appointment and wished him success in the execution of his mandate.

The officials discussed the Moldovan-Japanese cooperation in the military segment and the prospects for its intensification.

Anatolie Nosatii informed the two officials about the reforms carried out in the National Army, which aim to modernize the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova, the efforts to intensify external partnerships but also about the participation of the Moldovan military in international peacekeeping missions.

For his part, Lieutenant-Colonel Tashiro mentioned that he will make efforts to help identify areas of cooperation in the context of the development of the defense sector.
