The Joint Moldovan-Romanian Committee Meets at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, September 15, 2022 — The members of the Moldovan-Romanian Joint Defense Commission met today at the Ministry of Defense.

The meeting was attended by the Romanian delegation led by the Secretary of State for Defense Policy, planning, and International relations of the Ministry of National Defense of Romania, Mrs. Simona Cojocaru, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, and the General Staff of the National Army, as well as specialists in various fields from both institutions.

The agenda of the activity included topics related to bilateral cooperation in accordance with the Roadmap signed by the Heads of States in 2021, the European integration agenda, the defense sector reform, the transformation of the national Army, the promotion of international peace and security, the enhancement of national resilience, regional security and others. At the same time, we discussed the assistance provided by the Romanian partners in various projects launched in our country, such as cooperation in the field of military education, military training, and scientific research.

In Chisinau, the Romanian delegation also had a series of meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European integration and the NATO Liaison Office.

 

The meeting of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Military Commission is in its seventh edition. The meetings of the Joint Moldovan-Romanian Defense Committee are held yearly, based on parity, in compliance with article 5 of the Agreements between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on military cooperation signed in Chisinau on April 20, 2012.
