Minister of Defense met today with Deputy Assistant Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance



CHISINAU, September 29, 2022 — Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii had a meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Javier Colomina, today at the headquarters of the defense institution.

On the agenda of the discussions were included topics regarding the cooperation of the Republic of Moldova within the Partnership for Peace program through the instruments and initiatives offered by NATO, such as the individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), the Building Integrity Program (BII), the Partnership Review and Planning Process (PARP), the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), as well as their role in the modernization of the National Army.

In the same context, the officials talked about the objectives of the defense institution, the aspects of public diplomacy, the long-term capability development plan (2020-2030), the participation of Moldovan soldiers in international peacekeeping missions, the desideratum of the European integration of our country, but also about the regional security situation.

Minister Nosatii thanked for the assistance and expertise offered over the years by the Alliance in reforming the defense and security structures, according to international and democratic standards, in training the National Army staff in the specialized institutions of allied and partner

countries as well as the implementation with the support of the Alliance of several social and academic projects.

In his turn, Javier Colomina appreciated the efforts of the Republic of Moldova in the context of participating in peacekeeping operations with an international mandate and welcomed the desire to extend the contribution of the National Army to the maintenance and consolidation of peace and stability in the region.

The official added that NATO respects the constitutional neutrality of the Republic of Moldova and will continue to provide the necessary assistance in modernizing the defense institution within the cooperation relations established for over two decades.
