Anatolie Nosatii and Vasile Dincu, meet in Chisinau (video)



 CHISINAU, October 1, 2022 — Romania continues to be a valuable development partner for the Republic of Moldova, including for the modernization of the defense and security sector of our country.

The statement was made by Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii as a result of the meeting with the Romanian Minister of National Defense Vasile Dincu, who is on an official visit to Chisinau.

In the same context, Anatolie Nosatii mentioned that over the years, the Ministry of National Defense of Romania has provided significant assistance in carrying out reforms to transform the National Army.

"In this way, I would like to thank the Government of Romania for the continuous support given in the training of Moldovan soldiers at various joint activities and military schools in this field, for the expertise in the elaboration of strategic documents, and the contribution to the implementation of the projects carried out within the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) and other external assistance programs," Minister Nosatii specified.

Anatolie Nosatii noted that the Moldovan-Romanian partnership has made progress lately. "We would like to diversify the areas of collaboration with the Romanian side, also on other areas – for example, information technologies and cyber defense. We also want to expand bilateral activities at the regional level by participating, with the support of Romania, in new peacekeeping missions under the aegis of the European Union, "said the Minister of Defense.

In his turn, the Romanian official said: “I am glad that your work and determination, coupled with our support and that of the Community of democratic European States, have brought Moldova the status of a candidate to the European Union. A great step toward prosperity. Today we are together again, in this effort of the Republic of Moldova to join the great European family. We are determined and confident to continue together. Our complicated and tragic history has shown us that there is no other way than to build a common future in a United Europe," Minister Dincu said.

Vasile Dincu referred to effective bilateral cooperation on the military dimension registered lately.

"We agreed to enjoy better collaboration across multiple defense and security segments, such as improving military education in the two countries. Recently, we have consolidated and ratified a new protocol in this area. We hope to use a trained human capital in Romania to modernize the structure of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the objectives you have set for yourself," said the Romanian counterpart.

The Minister of National Defense also spoke about the importance of joint training, to increase the interoperability between the two armies, welcoming the deployment in the Republic of Moldova of the "Fire Shield" exercise and the technical exercise "Citadel" in Romania.

Minister Dincu reconfirmed the Romanian Government`s readiness to provide the necessary support for strengthening the defense capacity of the Republic of Moldova.

It should be mentioned that in Chisinau, the Romanian delegation, led by the Minister of Defense Minister Vasile Dincu, also had meetings with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita, and with the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu.

The program of the delegation also includes visiting the exhibitions of the Military Museum within the Agency for Military Science and Memory.
