The international scientific conference "Regional Security in the context of the settlement of frozen conflicts" is held at the Agency for Military Science and Memory



CHISINAU, October 27, 2022 — The International Scientific Conference "Regional Security in the context of the settlement of frozen conflicts" started today at the headquarters of the Agency for Military Science and Memory.

At the opening of the event were present the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii, the Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, Cristian-Leon Turcanu, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova, Tadas Valionis, as well as academicians, scientific researchers, teachers, civilian and military experts, but also guests from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Lithuania, etc.

At the beginning of the activity, Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii reiterated the importance of the meeting in the context of the current developments in the geopolitical security environment, with the presence of a war on the borders of the Republic of Moldova.

"The event offers the opportunity to address a wide range of threats related to the national security system, with direct and indirect vulnerabilities and threats, which undeniably have a major impact on the resilience of society and public institutions in the Republic of Moldova, as well as in the States in the region. The current security challenges also influence the military sector of our country. In this respect, I appreciate the efforts of the Agency for Military Science and Memory and the Hanns Seidel Foundation in the Republic of Moldova to hold this meeting, where we will have the opportunity to discuss and analyze the current issues and challenges in the area of national and regional security, to identify prospects for ensuring the security of state sectors in all aspects, but also to address solutions for frozen conflicts in the region," Minister Nosatii said.

The event, which takes place within October 27-28, 2022 includes two discussion panels on the topic "frozen conflicts: The impact on national and regional security" and "the evolution of the security environment and frozen conflicts in the extended Black Sea area", but also communications on various current topics presented by experts from Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research, the Agency for Military Science and Memory, the National Institute for Strategic Studies (Ukraine), Moldova State University and the Institute of History, the Institute for political studies of Defense and Military History (Romania), Military Academy of Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun" and others.

The international scientific conference "Regional Security in the context of the settlement of frozen conflicts" is organized by the Agency for Military Science and Memory, in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation in the Republic of Moldova.

The event's partners are the Association of Military History, the multicultural Association "Art-Express", the Institute for the study of Archives, and the Military Academy of the Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun".
