Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross train Moldovan peacekeepers (video)



CHISINAU, December 13, 2022 — Specialists of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are training the National Army soldiers scheduled for deployment in the KFOR peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and UNIFIL in Lebanon in the field of international humanitarian law.

Present at the opening of the training course, the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, mentioned that a good training is essential for the Moldovan soldiers who are going to participate in a UN-mandated peacekeeping mission.

For her part, the head of the ICRC Delegation for the Republic of Moldova, Doris el Doueihy, stated that the dialogue with the National Army, in general, and with the UN peacekeeping forces, in particular, is an important dimension of our collective effort to prevent and alleviate human suffering.

It should be noted that during the current December 13-14, the Moldovan military are trained in accordance with the rules of activity in an international operation, being informed about the provisions of the UN mandate in these missions. At the same time, the ICRC representatives hold meetings with the peacekeepers regarding the provision of medical first aid, as well as the training of commanders at different levels in making decisions from the perspective of international humanitarian law.
