The new ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Chisinau, visiting the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, December 15, 2022 — The Minister of Defense had, today, a courtesy meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Chisinau, Uygar Mustafa Sertel, at the headquarters of the defense institution.

The Minister Nosatii congratulated His Excellency on the occasion of his appointment, wishing him success in his work.

On this occasion, the parties reviewed the collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Turkey, including in the military field. The Minister of Defense appreciated Turkey’s support over the years, especially during the pandemic, but also in the context of the regional security situation.

In this sense, the Minister of Defense informed the Turkish side about the defense reform, the assistance of development partners in achieving the objective of modernizing the National Army, but also expanding the participation of the Moldovan military in international peacekeeping operations.

In this way, Anatolie Nosatii thanked the Government of Turkey for the support provided in the context of the assistance program regarding the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) package. At the same time, Minister Nosatîi highlighted Turkey’s support for the implementation of the PfP Project for the destruction of chemical substances/pesticides in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the training of the National Army soldiers in the Training Center of the Partnership for Peace in Ankara, the Military Academy of the Land Forces and the Air Force Academy.

For his part, Ambassador Uygar Mustafa Sertel declared that his country is open to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova and the National Army in achieving the objectives established in the bilateral cooperation agreement.
