The soldiers of the National Army participated in the activities dedicated to the Memorial Day

CHISINAU, March 2, 2023 — Today, the soldiers of the National Army from all the garrisons participated in the commemoration activities dedicated to the fallen heroes in the battles for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, in Chisinau, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the command body of the National Army, together with officials and veterans of the 1992 war, laid flowers at the monument of ruler Stephen the Great and the Holy. Afterwards, the participants moved in a Memory March, from the Great National Assembly Square to the “Sorrowful Mother” monument at the “Eternitate” Memorial Complex, where a commemorative rally took place with the participation of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the President of the Republic Moldova, Maia Sandu, the President of the Parliament Igor Grosu, as well as the Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

At the same time, the soldiers from the Balti, Cahul, Cauşeni garrisons, but also from the localities in the Straseni and Cantemir districts, participated in commemoration actions, together with the local public authorities.

Also, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude, the Agency for Science and Military Memory held, at the monument of Ruler Stephen the Great and Saint in Chisinau, the temporary thematic exhibition “In Memoriam”, dedicated to the heroes of the nation who fell in the battles for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic Moldova.

According to official data, over 30,000 people participated in the armed conflict on the Dniester from 1991-1992. Of these, 300 soldiers and civilians died, and another 3,500 were injured.
