Cyber defense, discussed at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, March 2, 2023 — Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi had, today, a meeting with the commander of the US National Cyber Mission Force, Major General William J. Hartman, who is on an official visit to Chisinau.

The meeting was also attended by the US ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, E.S. Kent D. Logsdon. The officials discussed the military partnership between the two states, with a focus on cooperation in countering new and emerging cyber threats.

The Minister of Defense mentioned that the development of cyber defense capabilities is a priority for the National Army, in the context of protecting the infrastructure of information technologies, critical infrastructure, prevention, detection and rapid reaction to cyber attacks.

In this context, Minister Nosatîi thanked the American official for training the military personnel of the National Army active in this field.

For his part, Major General William Hartman mentioned the willingness of the US team to maintain collaboration in order to strengthen cyber security.

Other topics of discussion between the two officials were focused on the intense strategic dialogue of the Ministry of Defense with development partners, the transformation of the National Army into a modern institution, as well as the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to international security by participating in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of UN, NATO and EU.
