French senator, visiting the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, March 20, 2023 — The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, National Defense Planning and Military Interoperability, Valeriu Mija, today had a meeting with Senator Olivier Cadic, Vice President of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the French Senate. At the Ministry of Defense, the senator was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic in Chisinau E. S. Graham Paul.
The officials addressed subjects regarding the Moldovan-French cooperation in the military segment, the prospects for the intensification of the bilateral partnership, the priorities of the Ministry of Defense for the coming years, as well as the reforms carried out in the National Army.
At the same time, the evolution of regional security and its effects on the Republic of Moldova were discussed.
Secretary of State Mija thanked the French side for the support given to the Republic of Moldova in the context of joining the European Union, as well as in the framework of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense. A special emphasis was placed on the coordination of expertise in the field of military reform and modernization according to the principles of good democratic governance, as well as on the exchange of experience between the military students of the two states.
