The new head of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, presented to the Minister of DefenseCHISINAU, March 30, 2023 — The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, received, today, at the headquarters of the institution, the head of the Eastern Partnership Directorate, NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, Tanya Hartman, who presented the new head of the Office of NATO Liaison in Chisinau, Michaela Šimáková. On this occasion, Minister Nosatîi congratulated Michaela Šimáková, expressing his confidence that her experience will significantly contribute to strengthening the defense institution’s collaboration with the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). During the meeting, the officials reviewed the cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and NATO through the Partnership for Peace program, the assistance projects aimed at the development of the National Army in accordance with international standards, but also the cooperation with external partners in achieving the objective of modernizing the capabilities of defense of the Republic of Moldova. The parties referred, in this sense, to the expertise offered by NATO in the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), as well as the implementation of the projects provided for in the Enhanced Defense Capacity Building Package for the Republic of Moldova — EDCB ), which supports the implementation of the long-term development and modernization plans of the Republic of Moldova in the security and defense sector. For her part, Michaela Šimáková reiterated the readiness of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau to support and facilitate the dialogue between the Ministry of Defense and the North Atlantic Alliance, in order to successfully implement the initiated projects and modernize the security and defense sector in our country according to the standards democratic.
