Modern Training Course for Sergeants

CHISINAU, September 14, 2011 — The Ministry of Defense started training a corps of sergeants for the National Army within a special course carried in partnering with the Latvian army during September 5 — October 30. The course is hosted by the school of sergeants of Dacia Brigade from Cahul.

The Chief of the course, Capt. Sergiu Slavioglo, stated that 28 National Army servicemen, including two military women, would be trained within the eight-week course by seven Latvian experts.

“The training course is meant for platoon sergeants and is held in compliance with the National Army Sergeant Corps Training Course 2011Plan”, Slavioglo stated. “The course started with a test of the professional and physical skills. Based on these results, the sergeants were divided into four training groups”.

The course held in Cahul consists of three modules: theoretical part, practical training and methods of organizing meetings. At the end of each week, Latvian trainers will test the students’ knowledge. At the same time, each student of the group will be assigned leader of the group. He will be required to hold one meeting with the platoon per day to study the methods of organizing a checkpoint, patrol operations, ambush, marching and others.

Such trainings meant for National Army sergeants started being organized in 2009, in partnering with the Latvian experts. The goal of these courses focuses on sergeants’ modern training requirements and growth of the role of a sergeant in the staff training management.
