Tripartite Forces Engaged in a Military Drill

CHISINAU, October 21, 2011 — The Joint Military Command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPF) engaged in a military drill at the peacekeeping checkpoint No.8 near Criuleni.

The exercise brought together nearly 100 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces, Republic of Moldova Army and Tiraspol administration.

According to the scenario, a group of rebels attacked the peacekeeping checkpoint. To repulse the attack, liquidate aggressors in the responsibility area and release the hostages, the peacekeepers interfered using weapons, armored equipment and means of transport.

The goal of the exercise organized by the JPF Joint Military Command was to check the battle readiness of peacekeeping and task forces, as well as the groups of soldiers fortifying the checkpoints.

The JPF consist of three contingents: the Russian Armed Forces, Moldovan Armed Forces and Tiraspol servicemen.

There are a total of 15 checkpoints and nearly 1500 officers deployed to the 225 km length and 12-20 km breadth Security Zone.
