General Inspection Directorate
The mission of the General Inspection Directorate, as an independent institution of the Ministry of Defence, is to conduct the evaluation of the system, investigation on specific issues, as well as preventing and combating of corruption acts and frauds within the institutions of the Ministry of Defence and Main Staff, troops and services of main units and military units of the National Army.
The General Inspection Directorate performs its activity on the behalf of the Minister of defence provisions and commands, in accordance with the annual and monthly approved plans by the Minister of defence. The basic duties of the directorate consist of inspecting the institutions of the Ministry of Defence and Main Staff, troops and services of main units and military units of the National Army which is performed through complex, scheduled, unexpected and repeated controls.
General Inspection Directorate’s basic activity objectives:
— checking the areas of activity, according to General Inspection Directorate duties, based on the control algorithms;
— identifying/observing the deficiencies, by comparing the results achieved to the expected ones, measuring performances with the initial requirements;
— preventing and combating of corruption acts and frauds;
— determining the causes and the persons that conditioned / favored the identified deficiencies to happen;
— submitting specific measures to improve the situation;
— providing methodological assistance, within the limits of responsibility area of the General Inspection .Directorate.
To better identify, analyze and assess threats and weak points for all levels of management within the military institution, the General Inspection Directorate installed the specialized line anti-corruption
