CHISINAU, December 1, 2020 - The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc and the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, went today to Negresti, in the "Codru" Genius Battalion, to check the level of preparation of the unit for the winter.

Thus, the officials inspected the special genius technique, used both in demining missions and in intervention operations during natural disasters.

At the same time, Victor Gaiciuc and Brigadier General Igor Gorgan checked the stage of repair work on the roof of the boxes in the car park of the unit and discussed with the staff responsible for the maintenance of the technical units.

During their stay in the "Codru" Genius Battalion, the officials also met with the heads of the engineering groups from the units of the Balti, Cahul and Chisinau garrisons, who today started the theoretical and practical training sessions and the tests for the subsequent demining missions.

At the end of the visit, the Minister of Defense appreciated the level of training of the unit for the cold period of the year, emphasizing the professionalism and dedication with which the military performed its established missions. "The engineers are the ones who, in addition to saving lives during demining operations, save the victims of bad weather, intervening with specialized equipment. That is why it is important for the Battalion soldiers to maintain their genius machines in good condition and to train continuously. I am glad to see that all of them do their duty with devotion and are always at the service of the people", said Victor Gaiciuc.
