The Moldovan sappers liquidated, in the first quarter of this year, about 50 explosive objects (video)

CHISINAU, April 5, 2021 - The engineers of the National Army liquidated, in the first quarter of this year, about 50 explosive objects of different types in the localities of Stefan Voda, Criuleni, Causeni, Cimislia, Anenii Noi, Hincesti and Ialoveni districts.

According to the senior officer of the Genius Service, Captain Ivan Cornegruta, during that period, the genius teams, led by Lieutenant Major Galina Mahu, intervened in Puhaceni locality from Anenii Noi district, where the sand quarry workers from nearby they discovered an aviation bomb weighing 500 kg.

Another demining mission was registered in the village of Semionovca in Stefan Voda district, where the engineers identified two artillery shells of 122 mm caliber, detected by the locals on an arable field near the locality.

At the same time, the genius team from the "Stefan cel Mare" Motorized Infantry Brigade neutralized four explosive objects - grenade launchers, artillery shells and an F-1 grenade - in Bardar village, Ialoveni district, Cioara village, Hincesti, Causeni city and the town of Singera in Chisinau.

All ammunition, which dates from the Second World War, was transported to the training centers of the units to be destroyed in maximum safety.

Taking into account that the most part of explosive objects are found by locals during agricultural works, the military engineers are informing that it is forbidden to touch the ammunition, to kick or move the ammunition found in the soil or on surface, to dismantle the warheads or other components, for children to play with different ammunition elements, to transport or take the ammunition inside buildings or houses.

At the same time, the citizens should know that it is forbidden the access of people, especially children, to the areas in which exist or it is supposed the existence of unexploded objects, to manually or mechanically dig in these areas, to work the land, to cross with vehicles or animals. In these cases, those who find the ammunition must immediately inform the local authorities who will request the assistance of engineer teams.

Regardless of the conditions or age of ammunition elements, the danger that they might be active and explode is maximal. Thus, any operation on the unexploded ammunition must be conducted only by specialized personnel, in strict compliance with security procedures.
