Ambassadors of Slovakia and Hungary to talks with the Minister of Defense



CHISINAU, May 20, 2022 — Today, the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii received the ambassadors of Slovakia and Hungary in our country, E.S. Pavol Ivan and E.S. Szabó Sandor.

During the discussions with the Slovak diplomat, topics were discussed regarding the state of bilateral cooperation in the military segment, the situation of regional security, but also the prospects for the development of the partnership.

Minister Nosatii thanked the Slovak side for the assistance provided in the context of the participation of the Moldovan military in the European Union Training in Mali - EUTM but also for the training of the National Army in the International Staff Officers` Course" (ISOC), held at the Academy of National Defense of the Slovak Republic in the town of Liptovsky Mikulas.

At the same time, Anatolie Nosatii informed the Slovak official about the objectives of military reform, with a view to transforming the National Army into a modern institution, increasing participation in international peacekeeping operations, and providing support to civilian authorities in crisis management.

For his part, Pavol Ivan reiterated Slovakia`s readiness to revitalize cooperation between the two states` defense institutions in several areas, including military education.

Also today, the Minister of Defense met with the Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Moldova, E.S. Szabó Sandor, who introduced the new military attaché, Lieutenant-Colonel Zoltán Berczeli, with temporary residence in Chisinau.

Anatolie Nosatii congratulated Lieutenant-Colonel Berczeli on his appointment and wished him success during his mandate. The Minister of Defense expressed his hope that the military cooperation relations between the Republic of Moldova and Hungary will evolve due to the vast experience that the official has.

The Minister of Defense also reiterated the importance of Moldovan-Hungarian bilateral relations in the military field. In this context, Anatolie Nosatii thanked the officials for the scholarships in the profile institutions in Hungary.

For his part, Szabó Sandor appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Defense, especially the Agency for Military Science and Memory, in the context of preserving and perpetuating the memory of military and civilian casualties in wars, actions carried out under the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Hungary signed in 1998.
