The problems of war veterans, discussed at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, August 16, 2022 — The members of the National Council for the issues of war veterans met today, in a new working session, at the Ministry of Defense.

The main topics on the discussion agenda concerned the measures taken in the context of the implementation of the National Plan of Actions devoted to the Year of Gratitude towards war veterans, participating in the combat actions for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, but also the stage at which the implementation of Government Decision no. 182/2018 regarding the identification cards of war veterans.

Also, the members of the Council addressed the projects of normative acts aimed at improving the social protection of war veterans, as well as the participation of members of the Veterans Associations in the activities dedicated to the national holidays — Independence Day and "Our Language", as well as in the events held on the occasion of Knowledge Day.

Also, the participants examined some proposals regarding the amendment of the Activity Regulations of the National Council for the issues of war veterans, approved by GD no. 20/2020.

Among the decisions taken during the meeting was the continuation of the process of confirmation/reconfirmation of the status of war veterans and the issuance of a new type of identification card, in accordance with the legislation, by the responsible interdepartmental Commission. At the same time, it was ordered that the internal commissions of the law enforcement institutions continue to hold joint meetings in the territory, with the information of the Interdepartmental Commission, and later report on the results of the examination of the requests in the territory. Associations of war veterans will provide the necessary support in this context.

Members of the Council — public associations of war veterans will encourage members of the associations to active participation in activities dedicated to national holidays.
