COVID-19: The military of the National Army patrol, together with the carabinieri, the public spaces in the capital
CHISINAU, June 15, 2020 - The soldiers of the National Army will once again offer support to their colleagues from the law enforcement institutions in the actions of prevention and control of the new type COVID-19 virus.
The decision was taken by the Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari, based on the decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Igor Dodon, from June 13, issued in connection with the epidemiological situation in the country caused by the new coronavirus infection at the request of the Government and the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri.
Thus, according to data provided by the Operational Command Center, 50 officers, sergeants and soldiers from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, the "Fulger" Special Purpose Battalion and the "Stefan cel Mare" Motorized Infantry Brigade will patrol on foot, without units technical, public spaces in the capital, together with the carabinieri, to monitor compliance by citizens with measures to protect against COVID-19.
They will be present in parks, recreational lands and other crowded areas in five sectors of the capital, where they will raise awareness and make the population aware of the risks of getting the new coronavirus in case of non-compliance and will check if people take all necessary measures to do not get infected.
"Dear citizens, I urge you to show respect for our military and to comply with the restrictions imposed by the authorities. We need support and understanding, so that, together, we can overcome this difficult period ", the Minister of Defense mentioned on his Facebook page.
Previously, during the state of emergency in connection with the epidemiological situation, the soldiers of the National Army worked in support of colleagues in the force structures, involving pedestrian and car patrols, missions at fixed posts in quarantined localities, transporting medical workers to work and to the house, the arrangement of the COVID-19 Sorting Center from Moldexpo, as well as to the disinfection actions of the headquarters of the Post Office of Moldova branches in the capital.
