Ukrainian-Polish Peacekeeping Experience in Photos



CHISINAU, July 12, 2013 — The photo exhibition “Join Efforts in Maintaining Peace and Security in the World” opened today at the Center of Military Culture and History. The event was conducted by NATO Information and Documentation Center (CID NATO) to Republic of Moldova, in common with the Embassies of Poland and Ukraine based in Chisinau, with the support of the Ministry of Defense.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Republic of Moldova, Serghei Pirojkov, and the representative of the Polish Embassy to Chisinau, Krzysztof Bielaj, appreciated the exhibition that covers moments from the activity of the joint Ukrainian-Polish Peacekeeping Battalion, deployed to Kosovo in 2010.

“This exhibition depicts moments from the participation of our militaries and polish soldiers in peacekeeping operations which is certainly a good example to follow for other countries of the world, that intend to engaged in such missions in the future”, Ambassador of Ukraine said. The official appreciated the Ministry’s of Defense support in conducting the exhibition.

According to the director of CID-NATO, Nicolae Vascautean, the event resides from the Republic of Moldova’s intention to deploy a contingent to UN-led NATO KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. “This exhibition is meant to tell the public, in general, and soldiers, in particular, about the joint peacekeeping efforts in the mission in Kosovo”, Nicolae Vascautean said.

The exhibition of photos made by servicemembers of the Ukrainian and Polish Defense Ministries, concludes the variety of events held in Chisinau, during July 9-12, to mark NATO Week in Republic of Moldova. The exhibition will close on July 19.
