Moldovan-French Meeting at the Ministry of Defense



Chisinau, October 15, 2014 — Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, met today with defense attaché of France to Republic of Moldova, based in Bucharest, LTC Christophe Midan.

Gen. Igor Gorgan discussed the National Army’s activities, with a focus on the Moldovan servicemembers’ performances in international peacekeeping missions and multinational exercises in Germany, Ukraine and Romania.

The officials also reviewed the bilateral cooperation between the Moldovan and French armies and the necessary mechanisms for a more dynamic cooperation.

The defense attaché of France appreciated Republic of Moldova’s dedication to promoting international security and participating in different peacekeeping missions. The defense official also mentioned the commitment of the Moldovan defense institution to the military political bilateral dialogue and expressed his certainty that friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries and armies will bring new achievements in the future.

The Moldovan-French defense cooperation is based on the Agreement signed between the Ministries of the two states in 1998.
