NATO Experts’ Preliminary Conclusions on the Visit at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, November 13, 2015 — Today, the NATO experts and the representatives of the institutions involved in the implementation of the first stage of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) in the Republic of Moldova drew the conclusions of the activities held this week at the Ministry of Defense.

The NATO experts made the preliminary conclusions regarding the current stage of development and adjustment of the legislative framework, the National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, as well as of the Strategic Communication. Within three days, these sectors were analyzed by representatives of the Supreme Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security and Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Defense, and the Information and Documentation Centre on NATO in the Republic of Moldova.

Subsequently, the group of experts will draw up a list of proposals, recommendations, and suggestions for the improvement and adjustment of the strategic documents of the Moldovan defense and security sector.

While in Chisinau, Andrew Cullen, the leader of the NATO experts group, met with Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru. The officials discussed about the importance of the assistance offered by NATO to our country through the DCBI.

The team of experts from the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, and Romania was in Chisinau within November 11-13 in the framework of the first stage of implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative in the Republic of Moldova. The Initiative comprises assistance in the analysis of current defense capacity of the Republic of Moldova and identification of the sectors which need to be developed.
