Implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative for the Republic of Moldova Discussed at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, January 29, 2018 — General State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Radu Burduja, met today with a NATO group of experts responsible for the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative for the Republic of Moldova (DCBI).

The NATO experts’ visit aims to offer expertise in developing and implementing the Military Strategy (MS), as well as the drafting, coordination and implementation of the defense planning documents concerning the building and development of the Armed Forces in compliance with the provisions of the National Defense Strategy and Military Strategy.

The General State Secretary thanked the NATO representatives for the expertise offered in developing the strategic documents — National Defense Strategy and Military Strategy and specified that these documents are an important step for the Republic of Moldova towards the modernization of the defense sector.

Radu Burduja also mentioned that the national defense institution is preparing for the second phase of the initiative which includes the identification of opportunities through which NATO could support the Republic of Moldova, with a focus on starting concrete projects oriented towards the development of the National Army’s operational capabilities. Radu Burduja said that our country is relying on our partners’ support in conducting the second phase of the DCBI.

The NATO group of experts is paying a visit to the Republic of Moldova within January 29 — February 2, 2018.
