First Parade Rehearsal in Marii Adunari Nationale Square



CHISINAU, August 17, 2011 — Prime Minister Vlad Filat attended Wednesday, August 17, the first rehearsal of military groups, as well as military equipment and vehicles for the August 27 parade to mark the 20th anniversary of Republic of Moldova Independence Day. The event was held in Marii Adunari Nationale Square (PMAN).

The Prime Minister followed the drills along with the Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta and the Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Moldovanu, who is in charge of the event. Vlad Filat came himself to see how the rehearsals are going on, for the Executive staff is responsible for the good organization of the event. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers was satisfied with the servicemen’s readiness. The official thanked the parade participants for their efforts.

“I am satisfied with the parade participants’ readiness and I am grateful to those who worked hard to reach this level”, the prime minister said.

The military parade rehearsal brought together 12 groups of servicemen, including 1000 National Army servicemen, 91 veterans of 1992 war, 400 representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as over 120 employees of the Border Guard Service.

The marching of the land forces was followed by the military vehicles and equipment belonging to the National Army. The row of vehicles conducted by a GAZ-24 cabriolet parade car started at Patria Cinema House.

65 means of military transport and equipment was used today to support the infantry, artillery, anti-air defense, peacekeeping and special forces. The military vehicles and equipment crossed PAMN with a five km/h speed and went back to their place through Stefan cel Mare Avenue, Ismail, Pan Halippa Streets, Hincesti Highway and Pietrarilor Street.

At the end of the rehearsal, the joint orchestra of Chisinau consisting of the Republic of Moldova Presidential Orchestra, the model band of the Ministry of the Interior, the military Orchestra of the Border Guard Service, the military orchestras of Stefan cel Mare Brigade and Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy, performed.

Two more parade rehearsals will be held in PAMN on August 20 (11 p.m.) and August 24 (9 a.m.).
