National Army Service Members Trained by Morio HigaonnaChisinau, October 10, 2012 — The service members of Fulger Special Forces Battalion of the National Army were trained by the head of the International Federation of Karate-do Goju-ryu Okinawa, Japanese Master Morio Higaonna (10 dan), during a practical seminar on martial arts, held at Military Compound 142. During the training, Master Higaonna taught 100 service members a few fighting self-defense techniques. “I was honored to train the Moldovan special forces, that impressed me a very good impression. They are well-trained and have a high level skills in martial arts domain”, Morio Higaonna said. In his turn, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta stated that Fulger Special Forces Battalion is a special mission unit that always needs to learn fighting techniques. “We believe that this kind of martial fights is the most required genre for our needs and we are thankful to the Karate-do Federation from the Republic of Moldova for this possibility to be trained by one of the most famous Sensei (master) of the world”, Minister Marinuta said. The Minister of Defense awarded Master Morio Higaonna with the Insignia of Gratitude as a sign of appreciation for training skillful military instructors in martial arts, as well as for the support of the training process of special forces units.
