“European Night of Museums” in Military Style (Video)



Chisinau, May 18, 2014 — The National Army Museum conducted Saturday night to Sunday the “Night of Museums” event.

The event, carried out in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office of the central district of Chisinau included a wonderful show, theater performance, music recitals, fencing and swords fight demonstrations.

The visitors also had the opportunity to admire the thematic exhibitions and taste the soldier’s lunch and traditional mamaliga (corn bread).

Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, stated that, by conducting this important event, Republic of Moldova is closer to the European values and joins the beautiful European traditions. “We have the duty to know the history, the past of our ancestors and learn from them that national dignity and pride are not for sale. That is why, I call you to visit the Army Museum in order to understand our military history better”, Valeriu Troenco said.

This year, the European Night of Museums was conducted for the first time in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.

The European Night of Museums, that reached the tenth edition, is a successful event, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Communications from France. The event is traditionally held under the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

About 3,000 museums of Europe celebrate the event every year.
