Minister Anatol Salaru Meets with Representatives of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova
CHISINAU, November 20, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, met with Her Excellency Signe Burgstaller, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova, and the Swedish military attaché, LTC Peter Liden.
The discussion was centered on bilateral cooperation, National Army reformation, and Moldova’s political situation.
Anatol Salaru congratulated Signe Burgstaller on her appointment and expressed the gratitude for the Swedish social assistance and contribution to the development of social projects, especially the gender equality promotion.
The Minister of Defense pointed out that the National Army undergoes a reformation and modernization process in the frame of the DCBI (Defense Capacity Building Initiative). In this context, Anatol Salaru reiterated how important is for Moldovan soldiers to participate in international missions together with their Swedish colleagues.
Her Excellency Signe Burgstaller mentioned that the Kingdom of Sweden pays a special attention to the participation of National Army women in international military missions. The Ambassador expressed the belief that the two countries will have an efficient defense cooperation.
The meeting ended with the official presentation of “Logistics Handbook on Ammunition Management”, a joint project of Moldovan and Swedish service members.
