National Army Celebrates Independence Day



CHISINAU, August 27, 2017 — The National Army staff attended today the activities dedicated to the 26th anniversary since the declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova. The activities were conducted in all the military garrisons.

In Chisinau, Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura, the National Army Commanding Officers Corps, and the military attaches appointed to our country laid flowers at “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” Monument and “Maica Indurerata” Monument from “Eternitate” Memorial.

The Deputy Defense Minister awarded National Army medals and certificates of appreciation to a group of reserve and active duty service members who fought for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. “You were those who fought and defended the independence, you deserve the appreciation and estimation of all the Moldovan citizens”, said Gheorghe Galbura.

In Chisinau, Balti, Ungheni, Cahul, Floresti, and Causeni garrisons, the National Army service members attended the ceremonies organized by the local public administrations. The military units held round tables, meetings with the veterans of the war for the country’s integrity, and sports competitions.

The Center of Military History and Culture launched the exhibition “Scrisorile Independentei” (Independence Letters).
