Pavel Voicu participates in the Meeting of Ministers of Defense of South-Eastern EuropeCHISINAU, October 15, 2019 - The Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu is currently in Bucharest from October 15-17, where he participates in the Meeting of South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministers (Ministerial SEDM).
The event, chaired by Albania`s Deputy Defense Minister Petro Koçi, chairman of the SEDM Steering Committee, addresses issues of military cooperation, as well as identifying proposals to strengthen SEDM in the context of evolving security in the region.
SEDM is a regional initiative, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, the United States, Turkey and Ukraine. SEDM was established in 1996 and aims to intensify the process of regional politico-military cooperation and strengthen stability and security in South-Eastern Europe.
The Republic of Moldova was admitted to SEDM in 2003 and participates in the meetings of Ministers of Defense with observer status.
