Military engineers in action!

CHISINAU, August 3, 2020 - The engineers of the National Army neutralized in July this year over 120 explosive objects on the territory of the entire country.

According to Captain Ivan Cornegruta, from the Genius Service of the National Army, during that period the demining groups carried out 27 missions in the villages of Stefan Voda, Causeni, Ialoveni and Anenii Noi districts.

The quoted source specified that the most recent catch - 75 anti-infantry mines - was discovered during the agricultural works near Telita village, Anenii Noi district. The land was searched by the demining team of the "Codru" Genius Battalion, led by Captain Ion Golovei. Also during that period, engineers were called to the village of Antonesti, Stefan Voda district, where 19 artillery shells were found following the ground investigation.

All ammunition was from World War II and was transported to the unit's Training Center to be destroyed in maximum security.

It should be noted that since the beginning of this year, military engineers have identified and destroyed 1766 explosive objects, of different types and calibers.

NOTE: The Ministry of Defense warns that in areas where there is or is supposed to be ammunition, citizens are asked to notify the local authorities. In the case of detecting unidentified explosive objects, it is strictly forbidden to touch ammunition, to strike or move ammunition found in the ground or on the surface, to disassemble warheads or other components.
