Moldovan-American collaboration discussed at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, February 4, 2021 —The aspects of Moldovan-American cooperation in the field of defense was discussed today by the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, the American military attaché, Commander Joshua Hensley, National Army, Karen Bonaby.

During the dialogue, officials reviewed bilateral projects in the field, focusing on continuing the process of implementing the Defense Capabilities Development Initiative (DCBI) and preparing the Moldovan military for participation in international peacekeeping missions addressed the results of Brigadier General Igor Gorgan`s recent visit to the North Atlantic Alliance Headquarters in Brussels, where he attended the Military Committee Meeting in the format of the Chiefs of Staff of the Allied and Partner Countries.

The Commander of the National Army appreciated the significant support from the American partners in reforming the security and defense sector of the Republic of Moldova, mentioning in this regard the measures taken in the context of implementing the National Army Long-Term Development Plan (2020-2030), Phase II of the DCBI and related projects. In turn, US officials appreciated the progress made by the defense institution in the joint programs and reiterated their willingness to continue to provide support to the National Army in the implementation of projects initiated in the defense sector.
