The US donates mobile medical and logistics equipment to the National Army
CHISINAU, February 10, 2021 - A batch of mobile medical and logistical equipment was offered, today, to the Ministry of Defense by the United States of America, during a ceremony that took place at the "Stefan cel Mare" Brigade, the donation was offered through the US Embassy in Chisinau, in the context of measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Attending the event, ambassador Dereck J. Hogan mentioned that this donation symbolizes the close ties between our nations. "This support is not only a help for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova but also a benefit for the country`s citizens, who are fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. This equipment will increase the capabilities of the National Army to better support the efforts of the civilian authorities of the Republic of Moldova and as a result, more lives will be saved, "said Ambassador Hogan. In turn, Acting Minister Victor Gaiciuc thanked the American partners for their constant support of the National Army. "The US government is with the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the National Army. The assistance provided by the United States of America is very useful during this pandemic period. Certainly, the donated equipment will be used not only for the purpose of preventing COVID-19, in exceptional situations but also in the exercises and training with the involvement of the National Army ", mentioned Minister Gaiciuc.
The US donation, amounting to approximately US $ 250,000, contains mobile medical and logistical equipment, including cardio monitors, bactericidal lamps, infrared thermometers, oxygen concentrators, disinfectants, sanitary containers, shower enclosures, Bio WC cabins, and automatic washing machines.
It should be noted that the USA previously donated another batch of equipment, worth $ 15,000, intended for the protection of medical staff in the Central Military Clinical Hospital and the Diagnostic Consultative Center of the Ministry of Defense.
