More than 570 soldiers swore allegiance to the Fatherland

CHISINAU, February 19, 2021 - More than 570 soldiers recently recruited into the National Army took the military oath today during ceremonies held in Chisinau, Balti, Cahul and Negresti.

Present at the event held in the General Staff Regiment "Brigadier General Nicolae Petrica" from the Chisinau garrison, the Minister of Defense, Victor Gaiciuc, congratulated the soldiers on this occasion, mentioning that for each of them the Oath is a special day.

"Your performances today clearly show that you have been trained at the highest level, with a lot of responsibility by your commanders and I would like to thank them for this success. I want to believe that in the next 11 months of military service you will love the profession of Defender of the Fatherland and you will want to join the large family of the National Army as professional soldiers, and eventually become a model for other generations of young soldiers. And I assure you that you will have the full support of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army, but also of your commanders, who have the necessary training and experience", said Victor Gaiciuc.

The Minister of Defense added that unfortunately, this year, due to the pandemic, parents and relatives are not physically with the young people. "I am convinced that they are proud of your performance because since joining the military units you have worked hard to know the military art, the regulations and basic training. I know it has not been easy and the period following the oath will be just as challenging. However, I am confident that together with your comrades, but also with the support of the commanders, you will be able to overcome all obstacles and fulfill your missions responsibly", mentioned Minister Gaiciuc.

In the "Dacia" Motorized Infantry Brigade from Cahul, over 100 soldiers swore allegiance to the Fatherland, in the presence of the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan. "I congratulate you, dear soldiers, for marching on the plateau with a lot of confidence and dignity and you have shown that through a lot of work, daily training and ambition anything is possible.

I urge you to be equally responsible in the execution of the missions, and in the end, we are already waiting for you in the National Army as employees, with the right documents", declared General Gorgan.

Also today, in Balti, about 240 other young people took the military oath on the plateau of the "Moldova" Brigade. The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the National Army (defense resources), Brigadier General Mihail Buclis.

It should be noted that due to the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19, but also to prevent possible cases of illness among conscripts, all military oath-taking ceremonies were held in a restricted format, without the presence of parents, relatives, friends of soldiers.

Term military service lasts 12 months.
