Promo-Lex and UN Women representatives at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, February 8, 2022 - The Ministry of Defense continues to cooperate with representatives of civil society in the context of intensifying measures to prevent and combat cases of violation of military discipline within the National Army.

In this context, today, the representatives of Promo-Lex and UN Women - Vadim Vieru and Loretta Handrabura - held a working meeting with a group of specialists from the defense structure, in order to establish the objectives and concrete actions for training and informing the National Army personnel, as well as the mechanisms for future cooperation with public associations.

The program of the activity included topics on respect for fundamental human rights, principles of organizing activities in military units to prevent and combat discrimination, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence in the workplace.

It should be noted that, in the context of cooperation with civil society, a series of instructional and informative meetings with respect for human rights and combating discrimination are organized in the garrisons of the National Army with the participation of military service members and the conscripts.

The activities are carried out in compliance with the rules and measures to prevent and spread the COVID-19 pandemic.
